Adding a Hallway:

Our little room is starting to get cramped now isn't it? we are going to need to add a hallway to it that we can add other rooms to later on.  Here we are also going to learn about some more of the embrace Tools, neccary for what we are going to be doing. We are going to learn about a nice little tool in here thats called "csg subtract" thats used to cut holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for the new block to fit into.  This tool comes in quite handy in many different events, and im sure you will find many uses for it like I have.

Lets get started shall we? load up your little map that we've been working on, time to ad a hallway to it. lets make sure nothing is selected again, so click in the X-Y screen once and press ESC. The first thing we are going to want to do is go back to the Layer Box, so up on the menu click "View" then and then Layers.  Bring back up the center tab again:

We want to make sure our sector is hidden so that when we use the CSG Subtract tool our sector isn't effected. See the box that says "Sectors" next to it? uncheck that box.  Click the apply button then close.  Now if you take a look at our map, the sector that we made is now hidden.  This gets it out of the way so when we do use this new tool it will only effect the parts of our map that are visible.

Ok, now we need to add a block that we are going to hollow out for the hallway.   So on the bottom part of our map, lets draw a box to make into our new hall.   Make sure the the block is tall enough in the Z screen.  If its too short, remember that clicking and dragging outside of the red box will increase/decrease its size.

Alrighty, we got our new little hall ready to go :) now we need to get it right up next to the wall.  Don't make it overlap, just get it so that its lined up with the wall.

and then use the Hollow Tool we used to make our room.

Now we have another room off of that one, but we can't get into it yet, so we need to make a hole in the wall where our entrance to the other room is going to be.  This is where we are going to need to learn about the new tool, the CSG Subtract tool. But first, lets make sure nothing is selected, so click once in the X-Y Screen and press ESC.   Look on your toolbar for a icon like below:

CSG Subtract

This is the CSG Subtract tool, it lets us carve holes in our walls, ceilings, floors, etc.  It comes in handy time and time again, so remember this little tool.   Before we can do anything with that tool we are going to need a block to carve a hole with.  Rather then making a new one, we are going to use one off the existing hallway that we just made.  While u have focus on the X-Y screen, use the arrow keys to get the little guy into the hallway and facing the wall to our room.

Now use the Camera View window to select the wall, (shift+click in the camera view to select) so that it will be the brush we will be using to make our new hole.  We could carve it at this point but there are some problems.  first one off is that it doesn't go into the next room.  And the next too, they could cause some serous problems for us, the block is overlapping the floor, ceiling and side walls, we need to fix it.

As you can see I've sized the block down one bock on both the left+right sides, top, and bottom.  I have also strecthed it so that it passed threw the wall to our next room.  This is needed so the tool will know to cut the hole in the wall.  Now we are ready to cut the hole, so go click the CSG Select button to cut  the hole, only click it once.  After clicking the button once, we need to delete the block we used to cut the hole with, so press the BACKSPACE key and the block will disapear. Now take a look at the camera view.

Our little hall way is connected to the room :) right on.  There are only a few things left to make our hallway complete, we have to make the floor walkable (see walkable areas) and texture the walls, ceiling and floor.  Once you've done that, were ready to move on to the next tutorial, making a door.
