Adding Light:

We have our little room looking alright so far, but we need to stick some lighting in there so we can see what we are doing when we go to test it in vampire.   alright, well lets get cracking.  Again, make sure nothing is selected by clicking in your X-Y Screen and pressing ESC.   Once you've done that lets get started on adding in lights.

Lighting i think, is one of the more simpler things to do in Embrace, Sense its all pretty much done for you.  In your X-Y Screen rightclick inside of your room you've made following the tutorial, and click "Light".  Whalla, we just made a light.  now we need to get it positioned where we want it.

Remember dragging the block to make it bigger? well moving things are about the same way, so first off in the X-Y screen Click inside the light we just created and hold the mouse button down, then drag it to where we want it in the room, lets move it to the center of the room.  Now if you take a look, its sitting in the center of the room in the X-Y screen but is in the floor in the Z Screen, so were going to need to do the same thing there, click n' drag it up to almost the ceiling.

Alrighty, we've got a light made, and set to a position where we need it.  hmm... what do we need to do now.  Well A light isn't any good unless you turn it on right? so were going to need to give the light some values so it knows to give off light.   Press the N key and the Not File Viewer will pop up in the same place the console window was and the texture box was.

here we will be changing the lights values. If you noticed, as it came up light was selected right off the bat.  The Color Area lets you set the color of the light, keep in mind however with some peoples video cards this color will still be white, do to there video cards not supporting this option.  But colors can still be fun, so go ahead and click pick color, then choose your color, and click ok.  now back at the Not File list view, click the Apply Color button and the color is applied.

Intensity sets how bright the light is.  Some colored lights will require more intensity to make them apear the same level of brightness as a white light, so bare that in mind.  Right now lets set the intensity to 500 for our room.  Once you have the value to 500 then click apply Light.

The other values in this window are used for more advanced lighting effect which we will not be getting into here. so ignore them for now.  Click back in the X-Y Screen and press your ESC key.  Whoo hoo, we got a light in our room.

If you wish to add more lights, just repeat the steps in this tutorial.

hmm... our level still isn't complete, its missing something... ah! thats it, window dressing, lets move on to the next tutorial to learn how to add props to the map, don't forget to save your map before moving on...
