Texturing Walls:

Here we are going to learn how to texture indepentant parts of our level.  Make sure that you have your map from the previous Tutorial loaded, and that nothing is currently selected (click X-Y window and press ESC).  and we will begin on working on texturing walls.

First off were going to teach you some moving tricks.  In both the X-Y screen and the Z screen, holding down the right mouse button and dragging the mouse will move the window around, try moving the X-Y screen with using this method.  The Z Screen will only move up or down using this method.

A few other useful tricks are the Page Up and Page Down keys on your keyboard.   These keys will move you up and down one full floor level on your map.  If your only looking to move a little ways up, or a little ways down, try using the D key to move up, and the C key to move down.   The A and Z keys let you look up and look down, this only effects the camera view however.  And the arrow Keys will move the little blue guy around that you see on your X-Y Screen.  Were going to need to know these keys for this tutorial.

Ok now we want to make the floor look different, so pull up the new york textures again (T Key for the texture window) and find a texture you want to use for the floor.   once you've found the texture, lets make sure the X- Y Screen has focus by clicking on it.  now, we cant select the floor in the X-Y screen because the ceiling is in the way, and we can't select the floor in the Z screen because a wall is in the way.   sooo... press the C key a few times until you can see the floor in the Camera view window like below

Once we can see the floor were going to want to select it, so get focus on the camera window, and pay attention to the X-Y screen while we do this.  Hold down shift and click the floor.  the floor should turn red in the camera window, the X-Y window and the Z window.

we now have the floor selected.  Now back at the texture window, click your texture you want to use for the floor, you will notice that the texture you clicked is applied to the floor right off the bat.  Get focus on the X-Y screen and press ESC to deselect the floor.  Now our floor looks different then the walls.

Press the D Key a couple times till you can see the ceiling and repeat the steps to change the texture on it.  You can also rotate around using the left and right arrow keys and change the wall textures as well using the same method.

Well wow, our little room is really coming along... but we still have a problem... no light, what will we do... Move on to the next tutorial! thats what we will do and learn how to add lighting! lets get going...

btw, it would be a good idea to save your map again at this point...
