I wrote this
utility to ease the creation of NAM files for those people who have
a lot of textures. I download a lot of texture packs from various
sites around the Internet, and use them in my maps. Since I like
to have a wide variety at my fingertips when I'm creating stuff,
I want the whole pack available at once. It gets pretty tedious
when you have dozens or even hundreds of textures to add NAMs to.
What NamTool
does is allow you to select either some or all textures in a directory,
and create a basic NAM file for each one. The utility will only
select TGA files, which are the ones used by Vampire.
NamTool was
written in Visual Basic 5. It has not been extensively tested and
will overwrite files if they have the same name. However I have
tried my best to make the rest of the program user-friendly. The
software is beta and should be used at your own risk.
Installation
and usage is easy - just extract the zip archive to any directory
and double-click the program to start it. Drive selection is on
top left, folder selection is underneath, and the file list is to
the right. The list will only display files with a .tga extension.
You can click a file to select a single one, or shift-click / control-click
to select multiple files. Hit the button, and the NAM files will
be created in the same directory as your graphics.
Hopefully in
the future I will have time to write a better version with support
for the more advanced NAM file features.
