Title: Club End of the World

Club End of the World is a gothic club map which has been built extremely well, to an almost professional stanadard in fact. I do not doubt that this level would not look out of place had it shipped with Vampire.

The level consists of a dancefloor some storerooms, a haven area, a "private" room that seems to be being used for some suspicious goings on and a manager's room, with the manager not exactly looking like a reputable guy to be honest.

All the rooms contain props which add to the feel of the level and the map is buzzing with NPC activity. For this reason the map runs a little slower once you get onto the dancefloor but this is due to the number of other character models in view rather than the map itself.

The lighting is adequate everywhere in the level with the possible exception of the dancefloor area which is located down a flight of stairs. However I would have expected a club dancefloor to not be well lit so this is okay.

The textures throughout the map are well aligned and tiled with no obvious mistakes and the author has used a variety of textures on the level, mostly more run down modern textures although there are some murals that were lifted straight out the dark ages. This gives the map and overall look like Xatrix's FPS game Kingpin, which isn't a bad thing in my opinion.

As I said to begin with the level is constructed well and you never get the feeling that your just wandering around a box room, which is great. The author has used props and lighting very well to make each room different, from the well lit but seedy "private" room to the dank storeroom next to the dance floor.

Overall this is a great map and one that I would recommend a place for on anyone's hard disk. Download and enjoy.

Scoring -

Originality: 3

This map is of a club, a slightly more individual club than you would find anywhere it has to be said and it reminds me of the club in the movie The Crow. All in all though the gothic feel sets it apart from other club maps.

Artistry: 4

At now point in this map did I feel as though I was walking through a series of box rooms even though on occaision I was. The author's use of props and lighting meant that the reviewer always had something else to look at, rather than worry about the overall squareness of the room.

Authenticity: 3

This map could really only be used in the Modern ages and as such has a limited use, which is a shame as it is a great map.

Technical: 5

There is nothing technically wrong with this map. All the textures tile and align properly, there is not any no-source lighting, the map itself is lit well enough and although there is some slow down on the dancefloor this is due to the amount of NPCs on it rather than the map being too slow.

Overall: 15

Although this pack is available on it's own I would recommend getting it as part of one of the Maps Galore packs from Mod Haven.
